On the occasion of World Environment Day, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the Environment Fair and the National Tree Plantation Campaign and Tree Fair 2024. In her speech at the event, the Honorable Prime Minister highlighted the importance of environmental protection and tree plantation. She said, “Nature is a priceless asset for us, and we all must work together to protect it.”
Sheikh Hasina mentioned, “Tree plantation is crucial for the environmental prosperity of the country. It not only helps improve air quality but also assists in preserving biodiversity and mitigating the effects of climate change.” She called upon people from all walks of life to participate in tree planting and sought everyone’s cooperation to make the campaign successful.
This year’s fair and campaign include various programs to make them more attractive and effective. The tree fair features exhibitions and sales of various plants, fruit trees, and medicinal plant saplings. Different environmental organizations, research institutions, and local communities are showcasing their activities and innovative projects.
The Environment Fair also hosts various awareness seminars and workshops where environmentalists and experts are exchanging views on what can be done to conserve the environment.
The Honorable Prime Minister further stated, “It is our collective responsibility to gift a beautiful and healthy environment to future generations. Let us all ensure our participation in tree planting and environmental protection.”
The inaugural ceremony was attended by various ministers, members of parliament, government officials, and distinguished personalities of the country. They all reaffirmed their commitment to environmental protection and responded to the Prime Minister’s call.
Everyone expressed hope that this initiative would further strengthen efforts to protect the environment and that there would be a significant response to the Environment Fair and Tree Plantation Campaign.
