14 people lost their lives in Comilla due to floods

Four people, including two children, died in the last 24 hours in Comilla. Besides, a woman died of heart attack in the shelter.

These deaths occurred in Burichong, Nangalkot, Manoharganj and Laksam upazilas of the district between noon and night on Monday (August 26).

Three more people died in Titas and Burichong upazilas of the district on Sunday. Six others died at separate times since the start of the floods. A total of 14 people have died so far.  

Among them, two children named Hasibul (10) and Ibrahim (4) died after drowning in Burichong upazila Sadar and Paschimsingh areas on Monday afternoon.

Burichong Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Sahida Akhter confirmed the death of two children in the upazila after drowning in flood water.
On Monday afternoon, there were reports of death of two more people drowning in flood water in Serazul area of ​​Nangalkot upazila and Mirzapur area of ​​Manoharganj in the night.  

Nangalkot upazila executive officer Suraiya Akter Lucky and Manoharganj upazila executive officer Ujala Rani Chakma confirmed the death.

Munirul Haque’s wife Maqsuda Begum (55) died of heart attack at Aoshpara shelter in Laksam Upazila of Comilla. Laksam Upazila Health Officer Nazia Binte Alam confirmed the matter.

District Relief and Rehabilitation Officer Mohammad Abed Ali said that in the last 24 hours, we have received news of the death of five people in different upazilas of Comilla.
