The Taliban on Wednesday seized a key area on the Afghan-Pak border. The Taliban claimed control of the Wesh area of Kandahar. As a result, the Taliban established their dominance in almost every border region of the country.
Taliban spokesman Jabihullah Mujahid said the border area between Spin Boldak and Chaman was now under their control. The customs of Kandahar have also been seized by the Mujahideen.
According to experts, this border region is very important. The border is used for Afghanistan’s trade relations with Pakistan. Not only that, this border is also important for entering Pakistan. Earlier, the Taliban also occupied important border areas of Iran, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan. As a result, a large part of Afghanistan’s land border is now in the hands of the Taliban.
The U.S. military is not yet completely gone. Meanwhile, the Taliban has taken another step towards occupying Afghanistan. An Afghan army official told the media on condition of anonymity that the Taliban’s claim was true. Hundreds of army commandos have surrendered to the Taliban on the border.
The Pakistani border guards told AFP that the mujahideen had lowered the Afghan flag and flown the Taliban flag over the border. However, the Afghan Defense Ministry has not yet confirmed the news. They said the investigation is underway.
