Warning signal 3 is in force at the seaport

After the light pressure created in the Bay of Bengal turned into clear light pressure, it is now located on Indian soil. It is raining in Bangladesh due to the effect of obvious light pressure. At the same time, the Meteorological Department maintained the local warning signal No. 3 at the seaport on Saturday.

The meteorological department said, heavy to very heavy rains are likely to continue in some parts of the four divisions including Dhaka and landslides are expected in the hilly areas of Chittagong.

Due to light pressure, heavy rain has fallen in Chittagong, Khulna and Barisal divisions in the last 24 hours till 6 pm today. Teknaf received the heaviest rainfall of 198 mm. Besides, 190 mm of rain fell in Patuakhali, 129 mm in Chittagong, 123 mm in Mongla, 119 mm in Cox’s Bazar and 121 mm in Khepupara.

According to the meteorological office, the local warning signal number three issued to Chittagong, Cox’s Bazar, Mongla and Payra seaports has been maintained due to strong monsoon.

The meteorological warning said that the light pressure in the Bay of Bengal and its adjoining areas is currently evident in the south-western part of Bangladesh and its adjoining areas. As a result, the North Bay and its adjoining areas are experiencing high air pressure variations and deep convection clouds continue to form. Strong winds can blow over the coastal areas of Bangladesh, North Bay of Bengal and seaports.

The monsoon is active over Bangladesh and is prevailing in the North Bay.
