200 Bangladeshis are taking part in the US embassy micro-scholarship

200 new students from Dhaka, Sylhet and Chittagong are participating in the English Access Micro Scholarship Program at the American Embassy in Dhaka. Participating in the new cohort of the two-year US-funded Access program, these students will have the opportunity to improve their English language, analytical-thinking and leadership skills.

This information was given in a notification sent from the US Embassy in Dhaka on Tuesday (August 31).

On Tuesday evening, Ambassador Earl Miller congratulated 200 Bangladeshi students selected for a new course in the US Department of State-funded English Access Micro Scholarship Program, the embassy said. The Ambassador commended 100 young women and 100 young man students from local madrasas, government and technical schools in Dhaka, Sylhet and Chittagong for participating in this life-changing program.

Miller said, “Your participation in the Access Program is important for building a long-standing friendship of mutual trust and respect between Bangladesh and the United States.” I hope others will follow the path you will take to move forward with your youth for the next 50 years. You will also work to further strengthen the relationship between the two countries.

Initially a family charity, the Language Proficiency Center (LPC) was established in August 1998 with the aim of imparting the necessary training to marginal professionals and students to develop English communication skills and basic knowledge of computer usage. LPC has been implementing various US-funded activities across Bangladesh since 2004. These include Dhaka, Chittagong, Rajshahi and Chapainawabganj, where LPC learning centers are located.
