Joyous Eid has arrived.

“Oh heart, at the end of Ramadan’s fasting, Joyous Eid has arrived. Spread joy to everyone today, listen to the heavenly call.” As the 30-day fasting of Ramadan concludes, the sacred month comes to an end.

Forgoing violence and hatred, embracing messages of equality and love, Joyous Eid has come around again after a year of spinning through the calendar. Tomorrow, Thursday (April 11), will mark the celebration of Eid-ul-Fitr, the biggest religious festival of the Muslim community.

To celebrate Eid with joy and happiness, people of all ages, from children to the elderly, will gather for prayers at the Eidgah grounds on Thursday. After performing the obligatory two Rakat prayers, the congregants will offer prayers and supplications for the well-being and prosperity of the world and the nation. Then, everyone will exchange greetings.

Every home will be adorned with the jewels of joy on this day. Neighbors will search for each other. Invitations will be extended to others. Relatives will visit each other’s homes.

With appropriate religious solemnity and enthusiasm, people from all walks of life across the country have made preparations to celebrate Eid. Many have left the workplaces, including those in Dhaka and other cities, to celebrate Eid with their families in the villages.

Preparations for Eid congregations have been completed across the country, including in the capital, under both government and private initiatives. This time, the Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) will manage the main Eid congregation at the National Eidgah Maidan at 8 a.m. on Thursday. If for any unavoidable reason this congregation cannot take place, the main Eid congregation will be held at the National Mosque, Baitul Mukarram, at 9 a.m.

At the main Eid congregation, Maulana Mufti Mohammad Ruhul Amin of Baitul Mukarram National Mosque will lead the prayers as the Imam, and Qari Mohammad Habibur Rahman Mukabbir will be the Muazzin.

Despite concerns about the weather, all arrangements for the main Eid congregation have already been completed. Separate arrangements have been made for women at the main Eid congregation. This time, 35,000 worshipers will be able to pray together in the main Pandel, which covers an area of 25,400 square meters.

In addition, to entertain underprivileged children on Eid day, all children under the jurisdiction of Dhaka South City Corporation and Dhaka North City Corporation will be allowed entry to parks without tickets. Arrangements have been made for them to enter and enjoy places of interest such as the National Zoo, Ahsan Manzil, Lalbagh Fort, etc., without tickets. Furthermore, Bangladesh Shishu Academy has arranged Eid
