BNP is afraid to see Awami League on the streets: Information Minister

Information Minister and Joint General Secretary of Awami League Hashan Mahmud said, after hearing the speech of BNP Secretary General, it seems that they are scared to see Awami League on the streets. And just as old cars sometimes stop completely without ‘starting’, the programs given by BNP for a few days are like that. Information Minister returned home on Wednesday evening after performing Umrah Hajj in Saudi Arabia. After returning home, he interacted with journalists at his official residence on Minto Road in the capital. At that time, when journalists asked about BNP’s ongoing movement-programme to topple the government, Hasan Mahmud made this comment. The information minister said, “Whether the Awami League is in power or not, we are the party of the streets.” Today, millions of Awami League workers have taken to the streets across the country. Hearing the speech of Mirza Fakhrul Saheb, it seems that they are scared. Awami League has killed democracy – In reference to the comments of BNP leaders, the information minister said, ‘BNPE is the killer of democracy in the country. They are born undemocratically. Ziaur Rahman seized state power by laying on the corpse of Bangabandhu, on the corpse of people, killed thousands of army personnel without trial, killed 22 thousand Awami League leaders and workers. A bill called ‘Universal Pension Management Bill-2023’ was passed in the National Parliament on Tuesday. In response to a question about the bill, the information minister said that the government led by Bangabandhu’s daughter Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has passed this bill to transform the country into a welfare state like Western European countries. The information minister said, “Whatever BNP says, the growth of the country’s economy is being appreciated by the World Bank, IMF and the whole world today. Our per capita income surpassed Pakistan long ago and even India between Corona. 14 years ago, the country was the 60th largest economy in the world, now we are the 35th largest economy. Earlier, the representatives of Film Alliance Bangladesh (FAB), which made its debut recently, met Information Minister Hasan Mahmud. Filmmakers Nasiruddin Yusuf Bachchu, Tariq Anam Khan, Gausul Alam Shawon, Piplu R Khan, Noor Safa Julhas, Rezwan Shahriar Sumit participated in the discussion. After the meeting, the information minister said that there was a discussion with the Film Alliance representatives about advancing the film industry and cultural awakening. To promote the film industry, the government has launched a loan facility of Rs 1,000 crore at low interest, created a film artist welfare trust, increased the amount and number of grants. Hasan Mahmud said, earlier culture was practiced in villages and towns. There was drama-journey. Cultural awakening is needed to bring them back. Because cultural practice keeps people and society away from fundamentalism and backwardness, and moves the country forward.
