Chittagong-Barisal rained 300 mm

Due to increased activity of Monsoon, the trend of rainfall is intensifying in the south-eastern part of the country. The rainfall in Chittagong and Barisal exceeded 300 mm.

The Meteorological Office has given such information in a forecast on Sunday (August 6). In the previous 24 hours from 6:00 p.m., Chittagong received 306 mm of rain, Bandarban 253 mm, Rangamati 144 mm, Sandwip 142 mm, Sitakunda 109 mm, Cox’s Bazar 101 mm.

Apart from this, 107 mm of rain was recorded in Barisal Sadar, 323 mm in Khepupara of Patuakhali. However, there was light rainfall in Dhaka, Rajshahi and Rangpur divisions and moderate rainfall in Mymensingh, Sylhet and Khulna divisions.

Due to heavy rains, flash floods have already occurred in Chittagong, there is also a risk of landslides.

Meteorologist Md. According to Omar Farooq, the axis of monsoon is extending over Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal and central Bangladesh to Assam. An extension of it extends to the northern Bay of Bengal. Monsoon is active over Bangladesh and moderate to strong over North Bay of Bengal.

Light to moderate rain or thundershowers with gusty winds may occur temporarily in most places of Mymensingh, Dhaka, Khulna, Barisal, Chittagong and Sylhet divisions and many places of Rangpur and Rajshahi divisions till Monday (August 7) ​​evening. Along with this, there may be moderate to very heavy rainfall at some places in Khulna, Barisal, Chittagong and Sylhet divisions.

Day temperatures are likely to remain almost unchanged across the country and night temperatures will drop slightly. Dhaka will have maximum wind speed of 10-15 km per hour from southwest or south direction.

The trend of rainfall may continue for the next two days. The extended five-day rainfall trend may decrease.

Another forecast said, South or Southeast over Rangpur, Rajshahi, Pabna, Bogra, Tangail, Mymensingh, Dhaka, Faridpur, Jessore, Kushtia, Khulna, Barisal, Patuakhali, Noakhali, Comilla, Chittagong, Cox’s Bazar and Sylhet regions. From 45-60 km per hour with temporary gusty or gusty winds, rain or thundershowers may occur.

The river ports of these areas have been asked to show the number one warning signal. Apart from this, warning signal No. 3 has been maintained in all seaports due to the fear of gale blowing on the coast.
