Gusty winds may occur in 20 regions

Winds are likely to blow over 20 regions of the country. Therefore, the number one warning signal has been raised in the river ports of those areas.

Saturday (August 5) forecasted by the Meteorological Office.

Meteorologist Md. Omar Farooq said, South/South over Rangpur, Dinajpur, Rajshahi, Bogra, Pabna, Tangail, Mymensingh, Dhaka, Faridpur, Madaripur, Kushtia, Jessore, Khulna, Barisal, Patuakhali, Noakhali, Comilla, Chittagong, Cox’s Bazar and Sylhet regions. Gust or gusty wind with speed of 45-60 km per hour from east direction may give temporary rain or thundershower. Ports in these areas have been asked to display a number one (re) number one warning signal.

In another forecast, the Met Office said the axis of the monsoon would extend across Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal and central Bangladesh to Assam. An extension of it extends to the northern Bay of Bengal. Monsoon is active over Bangladesh and moderate to strong over North Bay of Bengal.

Light to moderate rain/thundershowers with gusty winds may occur temporarily in most places of Rangpur, Rajshahi, Dhaka, Mymensingh, Khulna, Barisal, Chittagong and Sylhet divisions till Sunday (August 6) evening. Also, there may be moderate to very heavy rains in some parts of the country.

Day temperatures may drop slightly and night temperatures may remain almost unchanged across the country. Dhaka will have maximum wind speed of 10-15 kmph from South/South-East direction.

Rain/Thundershower trend may continue for next two days. The extended five-day weather forecast may change slightly.

The highest temperature in the country was recorded in Rajshahi on Saturday at 34.5 degrees Celsius. Bandarban received the highest rainfall of 142 mm.
