BRTC buses start running on elevated expressway

BRTC bus service has started non-stop from Farmgate (next to Khamarbari) to Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport through Dhaka Elevated Expressway.

Starting Monday (September 18) from 11 am initially with eight double-decker buses.

The program was launched by Secretary of Roads and Highways Department Amin Ulla Noori. BRTC Chairman Tajul Islam was present at the time.

Amin Ulla Noori, Secretary of the Roads and Highways Department launched the program and said that passengers will be charged the fixed fare of BRTA even if they travel on the elevated expressway. For now, tolls are not added to the fare. The fare for 15 km from Khejur Bagan near Farmgate to the airport is Tk 35.

The fare for 17 km up to Jasimuddin Avenue in Uttara is Tk 40. That is, the fare per kilometer is 2 taka 45 paisa. Due to the e-ticketing system, there is no opportunity to charge more fares. Later the fare will be charged after adding the toll.

It is known that passengers can travel from both ends of the expressway for now.

BRTC buses will take southbound passengers from Jasimuddin Avenue, Airport Railway Station and Kawla through the expressway and alight at Farmgate without stopping anywhere. Airport, Uttara-bound passengers will be dropped off at Farmgate and picked up from Bangabandhu Roundabout, Khamarbari or Vijay Sarani in Khejur Bagan area of ​​Sangsad Bhaban; Which will be a new route of public transport.
