67 Organizations Have Registered as Election Observers

After settling the objections, they have been registered as election observers after changing the name of ‘Human Rights Watch Commission’ to ‘Movement for Social Justice’. The Election Commission has finalized the registration of 67 local observer organizations in the first phase. Earlier, EC decided to register 66 companies.

Assistant Director of Election Commission Public Relations Branch Ashadul Haque gave this information on Tuesday.

He said that in the first phase, the registration of 67 local observer organizations has been finalized. In the second phase, 149 applications were received. The EC will give a decision on this issue this month.

Initially 68 organizations were selected for registration as local observer organizations. However, complaints were made against two organizations ‘Rupnagar Education and Health Support Foundation-Rehaf’ and ‘Human Rights Watch Commission’. The Commission later ordered the Human Rights Watch Commission to change its name as soon as possible and to investigate Rihaf’s allegations.

Accordingly, the Human Rights Watch Commission changed the name of their organization to the Movement for Social Justice. EC decides to grant final registration if they submit the name correction papers to Election Commission. And on finding the truth of the complaint against ‘Rupnagar Education and Health Support Foundation-Rehaf’, it was decided not to register them.

EC officials said that 67 selected companies are being given registration for five years. They can monitor all types of elections from September 14, 2023 to September 13, 2028.
