The Executive Director of UNFPA has arrived in Dhaka. Dr. Natalia Kanem, the Executive Director of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), has arrived in Dhaka.

On Sunday (May 12), Dr. Natalia was welcomed at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka by Faiyaz Murshid Kazi, Director-General of the Multilateral Economic Affairs Division of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Dr. Natalia Kanem will participate in a two-day global dialogue titled “ICPD-30 Global Dialogue on Demographic Diversity and Sustainable Development,” scheduled to be held in Dhaka on May 15.

The year 2024 marks the 30th anniversary of the ICPD, celebrated by various countries around the world under the auspices of the United Nations. As part of the celebrations, the “ICPD-30 Global Dialogue on Demographic Diversity and Sustainable Development” is scheduled to be held in Dhaka on May 15-16, with joint organizers including Japan and Bulgaria, besides Bangladesh.

There is a plan for the inauguration of this dialogue in Dhaka next Wednesday by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. In addition to the Prime Minister, the inaugural event will be attended by Dr. Natalia Kanem, Executive Director of UNFPA, Dr. Rokeya Sultana, Minister of Health and Family Welfare of Bangladesh, Vice Minister of the Japanese Parliament Yasushi Hosaka, and representatives of the Bulgarian government.
