The Chinese company is working with local partners to jointly produce corona vaccine in Bangladesh, said Huang Yan, China’s ambassador to Dhaka. Huang Yan shared the information on his Facebook page on Tuesday.
He said, “Chinese companies are working with Bangladeshi partners to jointly produce corona vaccine in Bangladesh.” China has so far provided vaccines to about 100 countries. In addition, China is going to hand over the first consignment of one crore doses to Coca-Cola, a global venture of vaccine. Many developing countries have received Chinese vaccines as the first batch of corona vaccines.
The safety and efficacy of Chinese-made corona vaccines are widely recognized, Huang Yan writes. As a result, the Chinese vaccine has gained an international reputation.
Last month, Bangladesh approved the emergency use of China’s Sinovac coroner vaccine. Incepta Pharmaceuticals Limited is the local agent of Sinovac in Bangladesh. The Chinese company wants to jointly produce the vaccine with Inceptor. However, the government is also considering buying vaccines from Sinovac to ensure immunization of the country’s large population.
Bangladesh has already signed an agreement with China’s Synopharm to buy 1.5 crore vaccines. The first consignment of 20 lakh taka arrived in Dhaka last Saturday. Besides, China gave five lakh vaccines of Synopharm to Bangladesh on May 12 as a gift. Later, China gave another six lakh Synopharm vaccines as a gift to Bangladesh.
