Dhaka-New York route to resume flights: Momen

Biman Bangladesh Airlines will resume flights on the Dhaka-New York route in the future, said Foreign Minister. AK Abdul Momen.

He made the remarks while briefing reporters at the Lotte New York Palace on the Prime Minister’s overall activities at the 76th session of the UN General Assembly and other high-level sideline events.

The foreign minister said the good news was that they had allowed the plane (the plane carrying the prime minister and his entourage to land at John F. Kennedy Airport in New York on Sunday) to land. So, I hope, Biman is going to start its activities on Dhaka-New York route in future.

AK Abdul Momen said, Bangladesh has also signed an agreement with the US Federation Aviation Authority. This is also a reason to be optimistic. He said flights on the Dhaka-New York route have been suspended for several years.

The Foreign Minister said since Sheikh Hasina came to power, several modern and latest models of improved aircraft have been added to the fleet. The members of the Prime Minister’s entourage left the airport in a car without any hassle and with due dignity.

He said, “Our image has become brighter because of Sheikh Hasina.” Bangladeshis living in the United States will be very happy if this airline route is launched.
