Govt alert to face impact of Russia-Ukraine war: Tajul

Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Minister Tajul Islam said that the government is careful to deal with the impact of the global crisis caused by the Russia-Ukraine war.

He said this while speaking as the chief guest at a discussion meeting titled ‘Socio-economic Risks of Youth Population: Development Policy and Allocation Plan’ organized by Action Aid Bangladesh and South Asian Network on Economic Modeling (SANEM) at a hotel in the capital Wednesday.

Tajul Islam said that due to the Russia-Ukraine war, almost all the countries of the world are following the policy of austerity. Import and export are having an impact along with the energy crisis, the increase in the price of food products.

He said, and it is not only in Bangladesh but it has affected the whole world. It is not true that only the value of money has depreciated, but many countries’ currencies have devalued, including the Euro, Yen and Rupee.

He said that the government of all countries works by adopting policies to meet a target. No country in the world can implement 100% of the adopted policies. It is not even possible to do that.

He also said that change does not come in a day in any country. It is not possible to change the country in the blink of an eye. No country in the world could do that. A country gradually reaches the goal of development over a period of time.

Tajul said that if the country is to be transformed into a developed and prosperous country by 2041, the youth should be widely included in economic activities. Youth is the strength of the country. They will lead the construction of Bangabandhu’s dream of Sonar Bangla.

He said that the youth society of the country is the charioteer of dreams for the establishment of a better Bangladesh in the future. Their participation will ease the way for the country to achieve certain goals. For this, they have to come forward in the private sector along with the government.
