Typhoon hits China, 230,000 people have been evacuated

Strong typhoon ‘Talim’ hits China. The typhoon hit the country’s Guangdong province on Monday (July 17).

About 230,000 people have been evacuated to safe shelters to avoid possible damage due to the typhoon. News BBC.

Talim is the fourth typhoon to hit China this year. It was traveling at about 140 kilometers per hour (87 mph) when it hit the coast.

Meanwhile, due to the storm, tidal waves have been created on the coast. Hundreds of flight-trains were canceled due to strong winds and rain.

Typhoon Talim also hit Vietnam. About 30,000 people have been evacuated from Quang Ninh and Hai Phong regions, the country said.

The China Meteorological Administration says the typhoon may lose momentum by Tuesday morning. Later on Wednesday, it is likely to weaken over North Vietnam.

Chinese state media said more than 8,000 fishermen were among those evacuated from Guangdong. They were brought ashore.
