EC meeting with prominent people today

The Election Commission (EC) is holding a meeting with prominent people today ahead of the upcoming National Assembly elections. Eight dignitaries have been invited to the meeting to be held on Wednesday (September 13) at 11 am.

Besides, 25 to 30 people are expected to attend the meeting as special guests. However, except for the eight distinguished people, the rest will be in the role of spectators. The CEC and the remaining four commissioners will listen to the suggestions of the eminent persons and take necessary steps to implement the various recommendations made by them. Among the speakers are former Election Commissioner Brigadier General (Retd.) M Sakhawat Hossain, local government expert Tofail Ahmed, former Cabinet Secretary Ali Imam Majumdar, former Secretary Abu Alam Md. Shahid Khan, former ambassador. Humayun Kabir, National Election Monitoring Council Chairman Nazmul Ahsan Kalimullah, Prothom Alo Joint Editor Sohrab Hasan and Bhorer Paper Editor Shyamal Dutt.

Election Commissioner Md. Alamgir said, we will take feedback from those who think and think about the election, who have elected many times, what is their opinion about the work we have done in the last one year. If they have any good suggestions, what more can be done for better elections, I will listen to them.

Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Kazi Habibul Awal along with other Election Commissioners and senior EC officials are said to be present in the meeting.
