Torture women by hanging placards saying ‘I am a thief’ around their necks

In Feni, allegations of theft and physical assault against a woman have emerged against the staff of Feni Diabetes Hospital. The incident occurred on Sunday (December 17) at around 11 a.m. in the main entrance of the hospital building on Mizan Road in the city.

A video of the woman being tied to a pillar and physically assaulted has also circulated on social media, including Facebook. In the video, the woman is seen being assaulted with a belt, and the word ‘thief’ is written on her chest using a razor.

After the incident, locals released the woman when her bonds were untied, and she left the scene. When asked by hospital staff, she refused to reveal her name.

Brigadier General (Retd.) Khan Muhammad Asad Ullah Ghalib, the director of Feni Diabetes Hospital, mentioned that theft incidents frequently occur within the hospital premises. Thieves come from different places, steal valuable items, including mobile phones, from patients and their relatives, and leave.

Earlier, another woman who caught a thief red-handed during a theft was handed over to the police.

Responding to a question, the hospital director stated that it is unknown who hung a plaque with the word ‘thief’ around the woman’s neck and tied her to a pillar. However, he assured that legal action will be taken against those involved in the incident after an investigation.
