This Year return deposit is 36 lakh 62 thousand, income tax is 5 thousand 901 crore

According to 2022-23 fiscal year, the number of Tax Identification Number (TIN) holders in the country is 99 lakh 69 thousand. 36 lakh 62 thousand 81 income tax returns have been submitted till January 31.

On the contrary, the income tax has been collected 5 thousand 901 crore 65 lakh taka.

3 million 28 thousand 661 returns were filed in the financial year 2021-22. On the contrary, the income tax collected was 4 thousand 898 crores. Accordingly, the income tax return has increased by about 21 percent in this financial year (2022-23) compared to the previous financial year.

These data are available from National Board of Revenue (NBR).

According to sources, despite the increase in income tax returns compared to the previous year, a large number of TIN holders have not filed their returns. The number of non-filing income tax returns is 63 lakh 6 thousand 919. In other words, two-thirds of TIN holders have not filed income tax returns.

The last date for filing income tax returns was 31 January. Earlier the date was postponed twice. Income tax returns can still be filed, but with penalties. According to that, more income tax returns will be deposited, NBR officials think
