Congratulations to the Prime Minister from the President of the European Commission

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen has congratulated Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on being re-elected as the Prime Minister of Bangladesh.

In her congratulatory message, the President of the European Commission expressed her sincere wishes for Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s overall success and stated her readiness to work with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to further strengthen relations between the European Union and Bangladesh in the coming years.

She mentioned the European Union’s commitment to collaborate with Bangladesh on issues such as sustainable development, climate change, migration, and other mutual interests.

In the letter, President Ursula von der Leyen recalled with pleasure her meeting with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at the Global Gateways Forum held in Brussels in 2023, stating that it highlighted a new dimension of partnership and cooperation aimed at expanding and modernizing our partnership framework.

The President of the European Commission said that the European Union will work with Bangladesh to maintain democracy, human rights, and the rule of law within the framework of long-term partnership.

The letter was sent from the office of the European Union delegation in Dhaka on February 19.
