A strong earthquake has shaken the Mediterranean island nation of Cyprus. The US Geological Survey (USGS) estimates its magnitude at 6.6 on the Richter scale.
The quake struck at 6:08 a.m. Bangladesh time on Tuesday (January 11). No casualties were reported, according to AFP.
The USGS said a strong earthquake had struck off the west coast of Cyprus. It originated in the west-northwestern city of Pils, 48 kilometers away.
The quake affected Palestine, Turkey, Egypt, Greece, Israel, and the United Kingdom.
