Assistant Secretary General of the United Nations is coming to Dhaka today

Dhaka: Kanni Wignaraja, the Assistant Secretary-General of the United Nations and Regional Director for Asia and the Pacific of the UNDP, is visiting Dhaka. She will be in Bangladesh from September 9th to September 12th.

The UNDP office in Dhaka has informed that Kanni Wignaraja will visit Bhasonchar and Cox’s Bazar. There, she will meet with the Rohingya community and observe the impact of the United Nations-supported interventions in the Rohingya camps.

During her trip, Kanni Wignaraja will also engage in high-level discussions with key government officials, including the Speaker of Parliament and the Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister, to strengthen cooperation between the UNDP and the Bangladesh government.

These meetings aim to enhance collaboration between the UNDP and the government of Bangladesh and prioritize the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) agenda in the region.
