The first shipment of 1.3 million doses of the Moderna vaccine from the United States, gifted by Washington under the COVAX, arrived in Dhaka at 11pm on Friday and the second shipment of another 12 Lakh coroner made by Moderna arrived in Dhaka at 8.30 am on Saturday.
At 11:30 pm at the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport from the US Ambassador Earl Miller, Foreign Minister. AK Abdul Momen and Health Minister Zahid Malek received the consignment.
This consignment of vaccines is great news for the people of Bangladesh when Bangladesh was desperately trying to vaccinate a large number of its people.
The foreign minister on Thursday expressed hope that vaccines would be available indefinitely and there would be no shortage.
According to BSS, the Bangladeshi expatriate community has also applied to the White House for a vaccine.
According to official sources, the Ministry of Health is trying to bring 1.5 crore doses of vaccine from China and 5 million doses of Sputnik from Russia.
It may be mentioned that on January 21, Bangladesh received the first 20 lakh dose of vaccine as a gift from India.
So far, Bangladesh has received 12 million doses of vaccine from the Seram Institute of India.
