Bogra: In Bogra, the Karatoya River comes back to life with the rhythm of boating. At this time, men and women of various ages, including the young, were enjoying themselves on the banks of the river. Along with that, the number of children was also eye-catching.
On Monday (09 October) thousands of people flocked to both sides of the river for the day-long competition.
On the occasion of the boat ride, visitors started coming from far and wide since morning. In addition to local people, many people from far and wide come to watch the boat ride from Maltinagar SP Bridge to Bejora Bridge, which is about three kilometers away. At home, a get-together with in-laws, daughters-in-law, and relatives turns into a fair. After finishing work, the housewives come to the river bank and enjoy boating. Many people did not find a place on the river bank and climbed on the roof of a nearby building or a tree branch.
Eight boats from Gabtali, Sariakandi, and Sonatala of Bogra participated in this competition. Later four teams Udalapankhi, Satta, King Khan, and Rakhee Alla Mare competed in the semi-finals. Later the final round was held between Udalapankhi vs Satta. In this, Gabtali got the honor of becoming the paraglider champion of Kalaihata village of Baliadighi upazila.
Aslam Hossain, Minhaj Sheikh, and Saima Mou who came to watch the boat race said that they came to see the boat race after many days. Kartoa doesn’t feel like a river, it feels like a drain. But today the Karatoa River looks very lively. We want to see such a lively Kartoya. We all enjoyed the boat ride together, it feels great.
They also commented that there are not many boats in the city now.
They said that there is a festive atmosphere in the area on the occasion of the boat ride. Relatives have come to visit the house. After finishing the housework, they all sit on the bank of the river and enjoy the boat ride.

Bogra Superintendent of Police Sudip Kumar Chakraborty presided over the prize distribution ceremony of the boating competition under the slogan ‘River Saves Environment Saves’ in collaboration with the Samilit Sanskultur Jyot. Member of Parliament for Bogra-6 Ragebul Ahsan Ripu was present as the chief guest.
