The Intensity of Winter will Increase, Cold Wave is Coming

The intensity of winter has started to increase. Especially, in the northern and western regions of the country, many areas are experiencing more cold during the day.

In the current season, the lowest temperature record within the country was set yesterday, Monday, in Nawabganj Badalgachhi. The temperature had dropped to 11.4 degrees Celsius. The area where the temperature record was set is close to the river flow. When the temperature drops to 10 degrees Celsius or below, it is called a cold wave, according to meteorologists.

With the severity of winter, many areas in the northern and western regions are facing disruptions in their normal livelihoods. People with low incomes in these areas are facing difficulties. People working in day-to-day activities, including rickshaw pulling, suffer more due to the intense cold. The number of diseases related to cold weather is increasing.

Due to dense fog, there was a delay in flights at Saidpur Airport in Nilphamari yesterday morning. Meteorologists say that the temperature may decrease further from Wednesday, and the cold wave may begin. The temperature may drop 1 to 2 degrees Celsius more tonight, Tuesday.

Bazlur Rashid, a meteorologist at the Weather Department, said on the phone to Prothom Alo last night, that starting from Wednesday, cold waves may begin in several areas of the country. Usually, the cold wave lasts for two to four days. Yesterday, the temperature was 12.2 degrees Celsius in Chuadanga, near Badalgachhi in Nawabganj.

According to the information from the Meteorological Department, due to dense fog, there may be a delay in flights at Saidpur Airport in Nilphamari on Wednesday, starting from Wednesday. The temperature may further decrease tonight, Tuesday, by 1 to 2 degrees Celsius.

The Meteorological Department has recorded the lowest temperature in Dhaka yesterday. The lowest temperature recorded was 16.6 degrees Celsius. The highest temperature was 23.9 degrees Celsius. The highest temperature in the country yesterday was recorded in Teknaf, which was 30.9 degrees Celsius.
