In six districts, 11 people were killed and 33 injured in the Kalbaisakhi storm.

Ten people were killed and at least 33 injured in the five districts of the southern region of the country, and two are missing. Several hundred houses have been destroyed in this storm.

On Sunday (April 7), from morning till noon, this devastating storm wreaked havoc in various areas of the southern region. This fierce storm hit Bhola’s Manpura and Lalmohan, Pirojpur, Patuakhali, Bagerhat, Rangamati, and Jhalokathi.

In Pirojpur, the storm began around 10 in the morning. In this storm, a woman died from being hit by a tree branch, and at least 13 people were injured. Within 15 minutes, the storm passed over the district at high speed, causing the entire district’s electricity supply to be disrupted. Hundreds of trees fell, causing damage to several hundred houses, and communication systems on almost all roads of the municipality were disrupted.

Pirojpur District Administrator Mohammad Jahedur Rahman stated that sudden storms caused the highest damage to the Sadar Upazila of Pirojpur, but the exact extent of the damage is still unknown.

Dr. Ramzan Ali, a physician at the district hospital, stated that two people were killed in this storm. Twelve to thirteen injured people have been treated.
