Inauguration of a section of the runway on September 2. Metrorail will go to Motijheel on October 20. The tunnel opened on October 28.

The government is going to launch a bunch of development projects in the road and rail communication sector within two months. These include government priority (fast track) projects like Metrorail, Chittagong-Cox’s Bazar railway line and Padma bridge rail connectivity. There is also a flyover (part) to ease Dhaka’s traffic congestion and the country’s first under-the-river tunnel project.

Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader announced the inauguration of some projects in a press conference in his office at the Secretariat on Sunday. He said that the elevated expressway (elevated expressway) in Dhaka from Kawla to Farmgate of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport will be launched on September 2. Construction of Metrorail Line-5 (Northern Route) will be inaugurated on September 16.

Currently Metrorail is running from Uttara to Agargaon on Metrorail Line-6. The section from Agargaon to Motijheel will be launched on October 20.

140 bridges, 12 overpasses and automatic vehicle fitness testing machine (VIC) will be inaugurated at Tejgaon road building on October 22. And on October 28, the Bangabandhu Tunnel built under the Karnaphuli river in Chittagong will be opened for traffic.

It is said that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will be present at all the events. On the day of these programs, the Prime Minister will address the rally in Dhaka, Savar and Chittagong.

Meanwhile, the railway authorities have planned to launch four projects in September and October. However, none of the dates have been fixed. The projects are railway line from Dhaka to Banga in Faridpur via Padma Bridge, inauguration of new railway line from Dohazari in Chittagong to Cox’s Bazar and opening of Khulna-Mongla railway.
