Gill will not play in the Afghanistan match

Shubman Gill is not playing in the match against Australia after Afghanistan in the upcoming T20 World Cup. Instead, he will be under the medical team’s supervision in Chennai. This information has been revealed by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).

Gill has been in excellent form with the bat over the past year, which had raised hopes of him performing well in the World Cup. However, he contracted dengue, and he hasn’t fully recovered from the fever yet, which is why he won’t be able to play in the first match against Australia.

In an official statement, the BCCI stated, “The Indian team’s batsman will not travel to Delhi on October 9th with the team. He will also miss the match against Australia. He will be under the medical team’s supervision in Chennai.”

Even without Gill, India started their T20 World Cup campaign with a victory, defeating Australia in Chennai by 6 wickets. The next match will see Rohit Sharma’s team facing Afghanistan in Delhi on October 11th.
