Everyone is worried about Afridi’s bowling speed

Shahin Shah Afridi is a Pakistani cricketer who is known for his fast bowling. He has been a prominent part of Pakistan’s bowling attack, but in recent times, he has faced criticism for his performance. During the first two matches of the World Cup, Shahin Shah Afridi’s form has been a cause for concern as he has only managed to take two wickets at an average speed of 80-81 miles per hour.

Afridi’s poor performance in the World Cup has led to questions about his form and capabilities from various cricket analysts and former Pakistani cricketers, including former PCB chairman Ramiz Raja, Shoaib Malik, and Waqar Younis. They have expressed concerns about Afridi’s ability to generate pace and his effectiveness as a fast bowler.

In the matches against the Netherlands and Sri Lanka, Afridi struggled to take wickets. He took one wicket in seven overs against the Netherlands, conceding 37 runs. Against Sri Lanka, he spent nine overs and conceded 66 runs. During the Sri Lanka match, Ramiz Raja mentioned that Afridi was bowling with an injured finger, which could be affecting his performance.

Shoaib Malik has also commented on Afridi’s slowing bowling speed, stating that it’s a significant concern for Pakistan’s cricket, as it is crucial for fast bowlers to maintain their pace against stronger opponents. He suggested that Afridi should work on his fitness and form to improve his performance.

Waqar Younis believes that Afridi should work with a bowling coach like Dale Steyn to address his issues and regain his pace. Waqar stated that Pakistan has been successful in the past when Shahin Shah Afridi has taken early wickets, but at this moment, he is struggling. Waqar emphasized that Afridi needs to work on different aspects of his bowling, including line and length, swing, and taking wickets. He expressed confidence that working with a coach like Dale Steyn could be beneficial for Afridi.
