8 thousand killed in 23 days in Gaza

In the past 23 days, in Gaza, Palestine, due to Israel’s indiscriminate aerial attacks and shelling, a total of 8,306 people have lost their lives. This information was reported by the Ministry of Health of Palestine yesterday, Monday. Among the deceased, there are 3,457 children and 2,136 women. Additionally, there are 480 elderly individuals. On the western coast, 119 Palestinians lost their lives. Israel initiated the attacks on Gaza on October 7th, following an unexpected attack by Hamas.

Since the start of Israel’s attacks, approximately 1,950 people in Gaza remain missing, with 1,050 of them being children. The majority of the missing individuals are trapped beneath the rubble of destroyed homes due to the widespread destruction. Rescue workers are exerting significant efforts to recover the injured amidst the extensive devastation.

In the Hamas attacks, 1,405 people in Israel lost their lives, including over three hundred soldiers. Apart from this, Hamas fighters have taken over two hundred Israelis as prisoners of war in Gaza. Several of these prisoners hold dual citizenship.

The relentless airstrikes and bombardments by Israel in Gaza have left a trail of destruction everywhere. Roads are damaged, buildings are reduced to ruins, and a sense of fear and anxiety permeates among the people.

To save their lives, people have fled from northern Gaza to the south, like 53-year-old Ibrahim Shandogli. Even in the south, where there have been bomb attacks, he questions, “Tell me, where can we go? The whole area is risky.”

Another resident who managed to escape to the south is Itidal Al-Masri. In the border city of Rafah, she struggles for food, water, and medicine. She states, “In Gaza now, even going to the restroom or sleeping requires waiting in line for the residents.”

Last Sunday, Maria succumbed to the scarcity of food. The United Nations has reported that due to the shortage of food, flour, and oil, thousands of people rushed to the UN-operated relief centers, resulting in chaos.

Gaza requires 100 trucks of aid per day, according to aid agencies. Dependency on aid, including medical supplies, for the residents of Gaza is intensified due to the Israeli blockade. However, since the beginning of the conflict, Israel has been obstructing the supply of aid. In the past 24 days, just over a hundred aid-carrying trucks have managed to enter Gaza.

The Chief Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court, Karim Khan, warned Israel on Sunday, stating, “Obstructing the supply of approved humanitarian aid in violation of the Geneva Conventions could be considered a crime within the jurisdiction of the Court.”
