Haniyeh in Egypt to discuss the second phase of the ceasefire

About 100 people were killed in Israeli airstrikes in Gaza on Tuesday as well. Meanwhile, Israeli forces say they have taken control of the Jabalia refugee camp in northern Gaza.

Their demand is to crush Hamas in that area. But they have not been able to show any success in freeing the Israelis held by Hamas. This is why Israeli President Isaac Herzog says that his country is ready for a second round of humanitarian ceasefire in exchange for the release of hostages.

Hamas chief Ismail Haniyeh arrived in Egypt from Qatar to discuss the second round of humanitarian ceasefire and the exchange of hostages with Israel, although there is no guarantee of the success of the second phase of the humanitarian ceasefire in Gaza and the release of Israeli prisoners.

A high-level Hamas delegation will join him to discuss the ceasefire. Besides, Hania will also meet with the head of the Egyptian Intelligence Service, Abbas Kamel.

In this meeting, the leaders will discuss the release of Palestinians imprisoned in Israel, the end of Israeli attacks on Gaza and the West Bank, and the release of hostages held by Hamas. Besides, the humanitarian aid in Gaza will be discussed in that meeting.

Meanwhile, the Western media reports that the Prime Minister of Qatar, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, met with David Barnia, the chief executive of Israel’s state intelligence agency Mossad, and Bill Berners, the director of the US intelligence agency, in Europe on Monday to free the Israelis held by Hamas.

Earlier, Hamas and Israel agreed to a one-week ceasefire brokered by Qatar. Through that agreement, Hamas released 80 hostages. In return, the pro-independence armed group secured the release of 240 imprisoned Palestinians.
